Support public education!

The School Board needs to see and understand just how much our community supports them in holding firm against the outrageous demands of LifeWise. You don't need to speak, just show up. And wear BLUE!

The Everett School District's policies existed long before LifeWise arrived. District policy protects the safety of children leaving their care during the school day. And, District policy also maintains the neutrality required by both state and federal case law (Perry v District 81 and Zorach v Clauson, respectively). LifeWise would like the community to believe that protecting children is too inconvenient to be bothered with, and they like to pretend that current case law demanding neutrality doesn't exist. Their threat of a lawsuit is indeed frightening, but it is not as frightening as letting them put our children at risk and demanding elevated privilege above and beyond what everyone else is required to do. (It is also important to note that they are the only organization pulling kids out of school during public school hours; their assertion that they are somehow treated differently than others is baseless, as there simply aren't any.)

Your presence at the School Board meeting this Tuesday, December 9, is needed. It's a small ask with a huge impact. We want the School Board to look out into the seats and see a sea of BLUE. Show up. Show up for our kids, show up for the District, and show up for equal and legal neutral treatment under the law. Public education is too important to sit this one out.
